Disney's Teen Beach Movie DVD Review

The must-have junior novel based on the awesome Disney Channel Original Movie "Teen Beach Movie"! When teen surfers Brady and McKenzie are magically transported into a 1960's beach movie-inspired universe, they must try to blend in until they can find their way out. Will they make it back home? This exciting junior novel features an 8-page insert with color photos from the film!

MY REVIEW
This movie was so much fun to watch! Every time I watched it I wanted to get up and dance along to all the songs and sing along with the characters! It was that good. It definitely reminds me of Grease with the story line along with the how the movie is set from the present to back in the 60's. It also had me remembering the movie, West Side Story as well, with all the dancing and singing.

It's such an awesome Summer movie for kids of all ages and I definitely recommend it for every one to watch before Summer is over. This will definitely get you enjoying the Summer a bit more and wanting to head to the beach with some friends. Check out one of my favorite songs from the movie below.

Now you can own this movie to add to your musical collection, Teen Beach Movie is now out in stores for purchase as of today, July 30th. Definitely a movie the entire family can enjoy!

Back To School w/ Modern Family's Nicole by OPI Nail Polish Collection

It's hard to believe, but school is literally around the corner. For some of you that live in the states, school will be starting within the next couple of weeks. Luckily for us, we still have a little over a month left before my kiddos get on the bus to start the new school year.

Along with the new school year comes the new season for all of our favorite television shows we've been missing so much. One of my all time favorite shows I can't wait to see this up and coming season is Modern Family. I absolutely adore the show and all of the crazy and hilarious characters. Do you watch Modern Family? Who's your favorite character?!

One thing that every girl needs to go with her new school outfits is a beautifully colored nail polish, like, the Modern Family Collection from Nicole by OPI! Not only can you wear your favorite character, but you can look good doing it too.

I was sent three polishes from the Modern Family Collection, Haley Good Lookin, I Do De-Clare and Alex by the Books. My favorite has to be Haley Good Lookin, I just love the way it sparkles and shines. And if you put it over a coat of I Do De-Clare your nails are sure to pop and make a beautiful and bold statement. I actually had tried Alex by the Books before and do like it, but anything with a sparkle will always be on the top. What I love most about Nicole by OPI is that each bottle has formulas that are long-lasting, fast-drying, with salon-quality.

Modern Family Collection:

Am I Making Myself Claire?
Make no mistake…I’m liking this lilac.

I Do De-Claire!
Let me just say how frosty cool this soft rose is!

Typical teenagers (and their moms!) will love this not-so-typical fuchsia.

My Jay or the Highway!
This trendy taupe is inflexibly cool. Period.

Stand by Your Manny
Be loyal to this periwinkle blue.

Alex by the Books
Look smart in this seafoam green.

Haley Good Lookin’…
She’s cookin’ up plans for this pink super-glitter.

Basking in Gloria
This red-violet is the color of passion.

Luke of the Draw
Chances are you’ll love this gunmetal glitter.

A Phil’s Paradise
No fooling…this pewter is the real deal.

Candid Cameron
Call this teal just like you see it…gorgeous!

Back in My Gloria Days…
This voluptuous violet has still got it goin’ on!

What’s the Mitch-uation?
This cobalt blue demands an update.

Along with the Haley Good Lookin and I Do De-Clare there are ten other beautiful colors you can wear, one for each character, making these a collection of 12. These are only out for a limited of time, so be sure to collect them all. Each polish retails for around $10.99 and are located at many retails throughout US and Canada. Super Mario Birthday Party

A couple weeks ago was my son's sixth birthday. I can't even begin to tell you how fast time seems to be passing, but I'm sure most of you parents out there already know.

My son has been in his Mario Brother's phase lately, so it was no surprise that for his birthday this year he wanted Super Mario Brothers to be his theme. To my surprise I didn't realize that not many party stores carry too much of party supplies for Mario, so I basically had to look up most of the items and decorations online between different only stores, like, Oriental Trading and Etsy along with looking on the wonderful Pinterest where I found loads and loads of ideas to make my son's party special. Take a look below at what we ended up with:

I first started off with help from Oriental Trading. They sent me the checkered tablecloth, treat boxes and mustache straws, because what's a Mario's party without Mustache straws?!

The kids had a ball with those. Since most of what I was doing was was going to be from online I decided to look on Etsy, which is where I found the Mario Banner along with the Thank You labels for the treat boxes. The huge printable images I found online and my husband's co-worker had a laser printer at home, so he did us a huge favor and printed out the images for the backdrop.

I also got pretty lucky because I found a site where they had free Mario printables that went perfectly with the theme and so I grabbed drink labels for the water and juice bottles, which the kids seemed to love.

Now as for the Piranha Plant, I had to get creative because I knew I wanted those to be the center pieces and looking on Pinterest helped a lot because there are a few different ways you can make them. I found an easy and affordable way between a couple of different pins and found that using a circle Styrofoam as the head and the planters that you get from the dollar store was the easiest way and was pretty cheap to make. Although looking at them now, I should have painted inside the planter as well, I do think I did a pretty good job on it.

As for games, I thought it would be cool do get plastic white Easter eggs and color them with green dots and do a Yoshi's Egg Race. Great idea and it would have turned out great, but it was seriously so hot outside we ended up moving the party inside so that they kids wouldn't get too hot from the heat and humidity. This would have definitely been a great game to play. I also found a template online for Pin The Mustache On Mario, which my hubby's co-worker printed out for us as well. Another game that didn't get played because we had the kids play inside, but I did however have my little guy take a picture next to it after placing the mustache on Mario.

Overall, I think the decorations turned out pretty nice for putting everything together without "real," Mario decorations and the kids had a kick out of the little Bombs, Mushrooms and Coin Boxes, which were the only things I did seem to find at our local Party Store. Even though it was pretty hot to be outside the entire time, the kids did enjoy playing games inside and had a great time, which is really all I could ask for.

Items from the Party:

Customize Personal Gifts with @CafePress {Giveaway}

I absolutely love giving gifts to the people in my life. What I love most is finding something I love that makes me think of them when I look at an item. For instance, my mother in law loves to bake and cook. She loves making goodies for her grand kids and she loves cooking for everyone in the family. So buying her an apron that's customized just for her is definitely something to give her and that she will definitely love. I really hope she's not reading this today because that's definitely a hint on a future gift she'll be getting at the end of the year.

At CafePress you can do it all, from customized T-Shirts, Posters, Stickers, drinkware, wall art and Personalize Gifts you can give the people you love. And if you don't feel up to customizing the gift, there are tons of already made items on their site for you to choose from. They have tons of items for just about everyone and if they don't have something you like, just make your own and have them make it and ship it out to you.

I got to order a gift for my hubby this past Father's Day. He's always wanted a coffee mug with, "World's Greatest Dad," so when I saw a coffee mug on CafePress website, I had to get it. It arrived a couple of days after Father's Day, but nevertheless he loved it just the same and has been drinking out of it every single morning since he got it.

Not only is this a great quality mug that's pretty big and sturdy, but I love that it's dishwasher safe and that we've put it in our dishwasher numerous times and still the image has not come off. Definitely a great gift and I will definitely be ordering a few more times from CafePress.

Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles continues the epic battle as Scott Bernard must once again face his tragic past as he joins the returning Robotech Expedition against new mechanized adversaries known as the Haydonites.

MY REVIEW
Another great movie for kids. I didn't know if my son would get into it or not because he's only six years old, but I had him watch it with my nephew who is a few years older and they both enjoyed the movie. I love that it came with two movies that kept both boys very entertained. This is definitely a great DVD to purchase especially if your kid loves anime television shows and love sci-fi.

This show is filled with lots of adventure and tons of action and has a great story line. It kind of reminded me of Star Wars a little bit, but a cartoon and for kids, lol. To get a better idea of the movie, be sure to click play on the trailer below and if you think it's something your son or daughter or even another kid you know might like, you can now purchase this two movie collection in stores as it retails at $19.98.

Summer Reading with @DKCanada

I don't know about you, but our Summer has been pretty good. I'm loving that the weather is now cooperating and it's nice out. For a few weeks there it was nothing but rainy thunder storms and muggy humid days. This last week has been pretty nice and I'm just hoping it stays like this throughout the rest of the Summer.

Since Summer is here, I do let my kiddos stay up a little bit later, our normal routine is thrown out the door and for the most part I just let them have fun and enjoy their days, but one thing we still do no matter what is read. Reading is important and since my daughter is an avid reader and my little man is still learning, it's crucial that we continue our reading time with them so they both feel comfortable and can love it as much as my husband and I do.

Last month we shared with you a couple of books we received from DK Canada. Well this month we received two books for each of my little ones to help them continue to read during the Summer. DK Canada's multi-level reading program allows beginning readers to progress easily while following stories with simple sentences to more sophisticated story lines and vocabulary. The levels go from one to four with one being Learning to Read and four being Proficient Readers.

Their Summer Reading Adventures has all types of different books with stories from your kids favorite characters to books that are related to science, nature, history and so much more. With over 150 different books, there's definitely something for every kid to love and enjoy.

My daughter picked both level two and three books of The Lego Friends books and my son loves Angry Birds, so he got both level one and two books. They've been enjoying both books and so can your kiddo. Right now you can buy two books and get the third one free and if you spend over $50 shipping is free. Be sure to check out all the titles from DK Canada, I'm sure you'll find a book or two your kids will love!

Take the @Dove Go Sleeveless 5 Day Challenge!

I've been using Dove Deodorant for over ten years now. I think I started right after I left home for college and started buying my own bath, beauty and hygiene supplies. I use to wear Cucumber Melon and last year switched it up to Pomegranate, which smells heavenly and works great.

Well last week I got to take the Dove Go Sleeveless Five Day Challenge. The challenge was to switch it up from my daily deodorant and try Dove's Go Sleeveless Anti-perspirant. I was to wear it for five days to see if I noticed softer and smoother underarms. The deodorant also provides over 24 hour odor and wetness protection, which I have to say did its job, especially when odor was concerned. All last week I was getting ready for my son's birthday party doing yard work and although I was sweating, under my arms still smelled pretty great.

Dove has always provided me with dry and odor free underarms while still smelling great. So I knew I had to take the challenge to see if I could notice smoother underarms, who wouldn't want that?!

I definitely noticed a difference and am still wearing the deodorant even after the five days. When applying the deodorant on, I loved how smooth and easy it went on. This is because Dove combined both a moisturizer and antiperspirant together and the moisturizer acts as a lotion which provides you with smoother underarms.

Dove's Go Sleeveless is a great deodorant for us all, especially around this time of year. With how the weather has been from dry and hot to rainy and humid out, this is definitely a great deodorant to have and wear during the Summer months!

So go ahead, take the challenge if you haven't already and please feel free to come back to the blog and let us know how it worked for you.

Gluten Free Coconut Macaroons from @TimHortons

One of the places I love going is our local Timmie's. Not only do they have the best french vanilla every, but I love that I can go there and get something for everyone in my family. I love that Tim Hortons is family friendly.

Not only are they family friendly, but now they are taking their menu a step up and offering a new delicious treat for those of you that are on a Gluten Free diet. They now have Coconut Macaroons for purchase. I had an opportunity to try a couple of them and I have to say they taste delicious and a great snack you can carry with you if you're traveling or out and about.

Since one in 133 Canadians are affected by Celiac Disease and have to live with a Gluten Free diet. I think these new Coconut Macaroon treats are a great start for Timmie's showing their support and offering them on their menu. They always seem to amaze me and make me love them even more, especially with their continued strive to offer something for everyone.

Not only is it a first for Tim Hortons, but it’s also the first menu item offered by a quick-service restaurant in Canada that is certified by the Canadian Celiac Association.

So be sure to grab a pack on your next visit and give these new treats a try. At $1.29 you can't beat the price and they're so delicious!

A Turtle’s Tale 2 – Sammy Escapes From Paradise Viewing Party #TurtlesTale2

I absolutely love getting the opportunity to view a movie before it comes out on DVD, especially if it's a movie that the whole family can watch. We had a great opportunity to host a small gathering and watch A Turtle's Tale 2, Sammy Escapes From Paradise.

Now, as much as I wanted to host this party outside and watch the movie from our projector, it rained for days and so instead I decided to have a fun small gathering with my kiddos and my two nieces instead.

Since my neither of my nieces had seen the first movie, A Turtle's Tale, we thought it would be awesome to watch both movies, so we went on Netflix and started with the first movie. The kids absolutely loved it. The movie is rated G and is targeted for kids between 3-10 years old, but even my 15 year old niece loved it and watched both movies.

Along with the movie we were provided a couple of bags of popcorn and a gift certificate to go and pick up a few more snacks for us all to munch on. I went  a bit crazy, grabbed loads and loads of goodies for the kids, but it was so much fun.

Watching both movies was a great idea because not only had my nieces never seen it, but it also was a refresher to both my kiddos, so when we watched A Turtle's Tale 2 they all knew who all the characters were and was familiar with them. But even if you've never seen part one, watching part two was still a movie you could watch and not feel lost in, which is great, especially for kids.

This was a great adventure movie about family, friendship and sticking together, which made a wonderful family movie. Check out the trailer below to get a better picture of what the movie is like. And if you like the trailer, now you can find A Turtle's Tale 2 in stores to purchase as it was released on July 9th on DVD!

Disclosure: I am participating in A Turtle’s Tale 2 – Sammy Escapes From Paradise Blogger Campaign by Mom Central Canada. I received compensation as a thank you for participating and for sharing my honest opinion. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Horse Camp, A Great Summer Activity For Kids!

About a month ago my daughter got invited to one of her best friend's birthday party. She lives maybe a block a way, but wasn't having her party at her house. Her friend was having a group of her friends head out to the county and have fun with a day riding horses.

My daughter was super excited. She's been on small horse rides at fairs around town and has even shown interest in taking lessons, mainly because her best friend does, so I knew she would have a blast.

When I dropped her off and sat and talked with one of the local horse trainers, Sarah Parks, owner of Sarah Parks Horsemanship. I was shocked to learn the age and how young some of the kids she trained were. I mean, how young is too young to ride a horse? Well, to my surprise the younger the better. She even teaches a group called Trot N Tot's from ages three to six. This program is a way to introduce kids at a young age to learn to ride in a fun, safe, and interactive environment.

The lessons are for an hour and a half and the parents are included in the fun as the kids not only get pony rides, but they also get to have craft time, play games and so much more. I actually think it's pretty amazing that kids can learn how to ride at a young age. It helps them learn how to be safe and also learn not to be afraid of horses.

After learning all the information about the many different programs she offers for kids and talking with the hubby about it, we're still deciding if we're going to put her in lessons, probably not this Summer as she is already in a few different activities, but more than likely next year.

For those of you that are looking for something new and exciting for your kiddos to do this Summer, I'd highly recommend checking out your local Horse/Pony Camps to see the different programs and opportunities they have that your kiddos can participate in throughout the year. When booking a pony club make sure that you are made aware of what pieces of equipment you need for the pony club as some will be provided and some you will have to provide.

Killing Lincoln Blu-ray Review

Based on The New York Times best-selling novel, KILLING LINCOLN is the suspenseful, eye-opening account of the events surrounding the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. While some aspects of the plot to slay Lincoln and cripple the newly forming union are widely known, much more of the history unfolds in this insightful thriller. As John Wilkes Booth becomes increasingly obsessed with removing Lincoln from office, a secret faction of conspirators forms, and ultimately empowers Booth to carry out an event that will change America forever. Narrated by Oscar Winner Tom Hanks and produced by Tony Scott and Ridley Scott, this historical masterpiece stars Billy Campbell (TV’s The Killing) in a spectacular turn as President Lincoln.

MY REVIEW
I honestly didn't know what to expect when I sat down with the hubby and watched Killing Lincoln. There are many different movies and books about our former president and so when we sat down to watch this I didn't think this would be that different since everything surrounding his death we've all learned about in school. That's one part of history you just can't forget.

The movie however did intrigue both my hubby and me and we were glued to the television. The acting was fantastic and the story line was written very well. Billy Campbell did an amazing job playing President Lincoln. The movie even had me looking up more information about Lincoln, which I think mainly because I love watching movies that document real life/true events. I'd definitely recommend this for any one who is a history buff.

Killing Lincoln was released on blu-ray and DVD on June 11th for purchase.

Monsuno: Power Volume 2 DVD Review

While searching for his lost father, young Chase Suno has been given a great gift in the form of a powerful creature named Lock. The loyal Lock is a Monsuno created by Chase’s father for the sole purpose of protecting his son from those who would use the Monsunos to dominate the globe. With his best friends, Bren and Jinja, Chase must do whatever it takes to protect the Earth from its ultimate destruction, even if it means taking on his most powerful rivals — armed with their own Monsunos — one by one!

MY REVIEW
This show is pretty interesting. I mean, my kids love it and I even caught the hubby watching it with them a few times. They've been talking about the show and the characters for a couple weeks now. For me, I love that the show is about good verses evil and that the good is a group of kids trying to save Earth. With a six and eight year old and one being a girl and one being a boy, it's hard to find a show that they both are taking interest in and loving. I definitely will recommend this to those parents who have kids that are fans of shows like Kaijudo, Slug Terra, etc. I'm sure they'll love Monsuno just as much!

Monsuno Power Volume Two was released in stores May 21st and retailed for $14.97. Also be sure to check back on the blog in a few weeks for our review for the up and coming Monsuno Combat Chaos!

Burn Notice Season Six DVD Review

There’s trouble in paradise for former CIA operative Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) and his cohorts, and the streets of Miami are hotter – and deadlier – than ever before in the action-packed, adrenaline-charged sixth season of Burn Notice! In hot pursuit of his old nemesis, Michael must take down Anson Fullerton (Jere Burns) and find a way to free Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) from prison, where she is being targeted by a murderous foe. Michael goes full force to save Fiona as he takes on cold-blooded assassins, diabolical drug cartels, uneasy alliances, and explosive danger at every turn, until an unthinkable tragedy leaves him reeling and rocks his team to the very core.

MY REVIEW
If you remember we reviewed Burn Notice Season Five last year around this time and let me just say the seasons just keep getting better and better. I absolutely love this show and all the drama that comes along with it. If you're a fan of crime stopper shows, drama and all of the above, this is definitely a great show to watch.

If you've never watched it before I do recommend you start with season one. If you're not up to date with the story line of the characters you will get lost, but trust me, watching every single until you get to season six will totally be worth it. And if you're a fan of this show then I highly recommend having this in your collection. Along with season six, the DVD also includes never before aired scenes, bloopers and so much more. Burn Notice Season Six was released in stores June 11th. And you can now catch season seven on now on USA Networks.

Book Review: The After Girls by @LeahKonen

Title: The After Girls
By: Leah Konen
Publisher: Merit Press
Publication Date: April 18, 2013
ISBN: 9781440561085
Pages: 304
Ella, Astrid, and Sydney were planning the perfect summer after high school graduation. But when Astrid commits suicide in a lonely cabin, the other girls' worlds are shattered. How could their best friend have done this--to herself and to them? They knew everything about Astrid. Shouldn't they have seen this coming? Couldn't they have saved her?
As Ella hunts for the truth, and Sydney tries to dull the pain, a chilling message from Astrid leaves them wondering whether their beloved friend is communicating from the after life. The girls embark on a journey to uncover Astrid's dark secrets. The answers to those questions--questions they never dreamed of asking--will change their lives forever.

MY REVIEW
This was an emotional yet powerful read. Dealing with suicide in any form is emotional. Whether you read about it, new someone who committed suicide or someone who is in a deep depression. I think I cried more than a care to share while reading this story, but let me just say it is 100% worth the read. I read this in one sitting. When you're reading, your hearing points of views from the two best friends, Sydney and Ella. They're in shock and mourning of the suicide of their best friend, Astrid. They wonder how they missed the signs and what lead up to these events.

What I loved about this story was how true it felt. Some times death happens and it can break a relationship or make you stronger. I think it made both girls a little bit stronger even knowing that their friendship wasn't how it use to be, the girls still were there for one another and that's what mattered.

This is definitely a page turner filled with lots of mystery and suspense and will have you not wanting to stop reading until you get to the last page and even when you do, you still want it to continue. I thought both main characters were portrayed very well with lots of details and even though we only heard about Astrid through both Sydney and Ella, I felt like in a way I knew her through their memories of her. A great book, filled with great characters and a great story line. I definitely can't wait to see what Leah Konen comes out with next!

Eco Friendly Market Bags From Lil Alice @lilalicesews {Review & Giveaway}

One of the things I've been changing about my self for the last couple of years is trying to be eco-friendly, especially when I shop. I love the idea of bringing my own reusable bags to the store because not only are they more reliable and durable then any old plastic bag you may find in the stores, but you're also doing a litle bit to help the world and you never know, you may get others who didn't use to use eco friendly bags to start.

A couple of months ago I received a gorgeous reusable market bag as well as a cute chic chevron coin bag from a cute and unique homemade shop, Lil Alice. This shop was created by Katy Reitz who opened up Lil Alice January 2012! Where did she get the name Lil Alice you say?! Well, her nick name was Lil Alice when she was little. I imagine this was because her grandmother's name was Alice and they had lots of things in common. Her grandmother loved to sew, cook and shop and those were her favorite things to do as well.

Now, what I love about her shop is that she not only hand makes every thing she sells, but she sells a variety of items from reusable market bags, custom aprons, essential zip pouches in various sizes and accessories.

Not only will you get quality durable items from Lil Alice, but also unique items as well. I love the feeling of going out the house with an item and a friend, family member or a stranger asking me where I purchased the item. This is what happened to me when I took my new cute reusable market bag to the Farmer's Market a few weeks back. I was complimented on how nice the bag was and also where I got it from.

What impressed me too was I had an accident and got some juice in the bag. I put it in the wash and it came out looking great and was still durable, standing on it's own and was good to go. This to me screams great quality and care. I can tell that Katy puts her whole heart in when she's creating new items and this is definitely a shop that is worth checking out. Everyone should know about Lil Alice!

Both items are perfect for Summer and would be great to take with you if you went shopping to the market place, an outdoor flea market,  to the beach or out of town. You can keep up with Lil Alice socially on Twitter and Facebook!
