Morphology Game Review

We had the pleasure of reviewing the board game, Morphology. Let me just say that I don't think I've played a game that kept me laughing, curious and guessing non stop, in such a long time.

The idea for Morphology first emerged during a snowstorm in Minneapolis, MN. Morphology inventor and recent Macalester College graduate Kate Ryan Reiling and two of her friends were stranded in their apartment and decided to play a board game.
They wanted to do something creative (and help their friend learn Spanish) so they opened a Spanish-English dictionary and built words using Jenga blocks and Pente pieces. Inspired by how much fun they had and how amazed she was at what they could build, Kate spent the next years prototyping what would soon become Morphology.
The game was very easy to understand, although tricky to play. It's best when you have a group of four or more and that you're over the age of 13. It reminds me of the gameCranium. When you first start to play you split into two groups. You have to decide who will become the Morphologist, which is the person who will be building the items from the cards you pull, the rest of the teammates will guess what you're building. The trick is, you have to do it with your eyes closed! This makes it even more hilarious and harder because of course it rarely ever comes out looking how you wanted. And if your team doesn't guess it right, the other team has a chance to guess what it is.
The game retails for $29.99 and you can purchase it online on their website, Barnes & Nobles and at your local Marbles: The Brain Store. Be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube for info on sales, discounts, etc.
This is an all around great family friendly game and is definitely something that would be awesome to play during the Holidays. I'll definitely be taking this over to my mother in laws this year for Christmas.
